The purpose of this program is to study the contemporary history of Georgia and the Caucasus, analyze the ongoing democratization processes in the post-Soviet Caucasus, and research the socio-economic and political characteristics of the Georgia's neighborhood (Russia, Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and the Caucasus as a whole).

The program supports young historians and social scientists promoting the inclusion of the Caucasus region into their research activities.
