The conference was organized in the framework of the project \u201cGeorgian-Russian Dialogue for Peace and Cooperation\u201d, funded by British Embassy in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the conference was sharing of the international diasporic experience and its promotion \u00a0regarding Georgian Diaspora in public-political spheres.\u00a0 The conference was opened by the executive director of Caucasian House Giorgi Kanashvili alongside the representative of the British Embassy Tbilisi in Georgia Sopho Berishvili. Giorgi Kanashvili introduced the content of the project and emphasized the importance of paying attention to large Georgian Diaspora in Russia.\u00a0 Sopho\u00a0 Berishvili\u00a0 talked\u00a0 about\u00a0 the\u00a0 general directions and priorities of Conflict, Stability and Security Fund of British Embassy.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 first\u00a0 session\u00a0 included\u00a0 the\u00a0 discussion\u00a0 of\u00a0 concrete\u00a0 countries\u2019\u00a0 diasporic\u00a0 experience\u00a0 by Armenian,\u00a0 Israeli and Ukrainian experts\u00a0 and\u00a0 academics, who focused on characteristics and development\u00a0 of\u00a0 diasporic\u00a0 network,\u00a0 the\u00a0 possibility\u00a0 of\u00a0 diasporas\u2019\u00a0 contribution\u00a0 to\u00a0 the\u00a0 social-economic development and how effectively counties with strong diasporas use those resources.<\/p>\n<p>State\u00a0 Minister\u00a0 of\u00a0 Georgia\u00a0 for\u00a0 Diaspora\u00a0 Issues,\u00a0 Gela\u00a0 Dumabdze\u00a0 talked\u00a0 about\u00a0 the contemporary approach of government of Georgia toward Georgian Diaspora.\u00a0 The minister also mentioned that in this direction the work is in the process of rapid development and the interest from Georgian Diaspora\u2019s side is growing as well.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2558\" src=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"2\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/2-45x45.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2557\" src=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"1\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/1-45x45.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-2559\" src=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"5\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/caucasianhouse.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/5-45x45.jpg 45w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second part of the conference was dedicated to the Georgian Diaspora living in Russia which is the biggest Georgian community living abroad. The speakers of the panel were Zurab Abashidze, the Prime Minister\u2019s Special Envoy in Relations with Russia and Boris Berulava, the representative of Georgian diasporic organization \u201cIveria\u201d. \u00a0Zurab Abashidze, during his speech, emphasized the possible ways of incorporating Georgian Diaspora in the normalization of Georgian-Russian relations, though at the first stage Georgian Diaspora itself should be strengthened on the ground. As for the Boris Berulava, he spoke about the history of establishment of Georgian diasporic organization \u201cIveria\u201d in St. Petersburg, its activities and underlined the importance of participation of Georgian side in their work.<\/p>\n<p>Mariam Gachechiladze, the researcher at Caucasian House made the presentation of main findings of the research done by Caucasian House. The research was conducted in the frames of the project \u201cGeorgian-Russian Dialogue for Peace and Cooperation\u201d and its main aim was to identify how strong the Georgian Diaspora organizations are in Russia, how they manage to cooperate and what main problems they are facing during their work.
